Community Table Dinner Raises $16,200 for the Yates Community Center

[Yates County, NY] — The Community Table Committee is thrilled to announce the resounding success of the 2023 Community Table Dinner, which raised an impressive $16,200 for its chosen beneficiary, the Yates Community Center. This heartwarming and vibrant event, known for celebrating the flavors of our local community, took place on September 9th and it was a true testament to the spirit of unity and generosity that thrives in our rural area.

The Community Table Dinner is a cherished tradition, bringing together residents, local businesses, and farmers to celebrate our rich agricultural heritage. The event showcased an unique farm-to-table experience, highlighting the bounty of our region's local products. The evening's festivities wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of sponsors, talented chefs, dedicated volunteers, and the community that came together to make it happen.

A heartfelt "Thank You" goes out to Presenting Sponsor, the Rochester Area Community Foundation’s Yates County Endowment, whose commitment to our community helped lay the foundation for this successful event. We are also incredibly grateful to our other sponsors: Coopers Landing, Lakeview Organic Grain, Coplai Insurance, Water Street Pharmacy, and Village Drug, whose support was invaluable in making this evening a reality.

The exceptional menu at the Community Table Dinner was crafted by a team of local chefs, inspired by generous donations from Bedient Farms, Sweet Farm, Seneca Grain & Bean, Shtayburne Farm, Black Squirrel Farms, Benton Valley Orchard, Windy Acres Farm, Apple Barrel Orchards, LaBarr Farms, Podunk Farm, Keuka Lake Wine Trail, Scout Vineyards, Ravines Wine Cellars, Relative Risk Brewing Co., Laurentide Beer Co., Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyards, Glenora Wine Cellars, and Fox Run Vineyards.

A creative team of chefs, including Ben Comstock of True Roots Catering & Kitchen, Chet Thompson of 18th Amendment & Burnt Rose Wine Bar, Linnea Shumway of Minimalist Chef, Sabrina Miller of Sabrina's Bake Shoppe, Todd Hatch and Catherine Graves of Blue Heron Bakery, Natalie Travis of Outlet 111, and Rose Curry and staff of 18th Amendment, crafted a menu that showcased the exceptional flavors of the Finger Lakes and paid homage to the Yates County Bicentennial year.

The Community Table Dinner is organized by a dedicated committee made up of individuals and organizations who are deeply committed to our community. These committee members include: The Yates County Chamber of Commerce team: Jessica Bacher, Jody Tyler, & Chelsea Race, Mike Lipari, Finger Lakes Economic Development Center, Dan Mitchell, Staving Artist, Lucy Stork, Folk Bottle, Keturah Sommers, Olive Events, Mary-Howell Martens, Lakeview Organic Grain, Rose Curry & Chet Thompson, 18th Amendment, Ben Comstock, True Roots, and Brian Gentry.

The $16,200 raised for the Yates Community Center will undoubtedly make a significant impact on their mission to serve all members of our community. Dawn Shipman, YCC Program & Events Director commented that "Food, a shared table, and the presence of community members and friends show that we can build a community when gathered around a meal. Thank you on behalf of the YCC for helping us raise $16,200.00. We give you our gratitude and sincere appreciation. We offer a special thanks to all the dinner volunteers and committee members for all the hard work that made the evening a huge success."
